Allan Tupper on the Conservative Leadership Race

In the first episode of 2020, Joshua Diemert sits down with UBC professor Allan Tupper. With the federal Conservative leadership race kicked off, Josh and Dr Tupper discuss the early entrants, the prospects still on the sidelines, and how the party is dealing with its own identity crisis after the October elections.

Allan Tupper is currently a professor and former Head of Department at the Department of Political Science in the University of British Columbia. His current research interests are the politics of higher education, government ethics and the political economy of major world seaports.


Joshua Diemert is a Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs student at the University of British Columbia. His primary policy interests focus around tech policy, data ownership and cybersecurity. Prior to joining the SPPGA he worked in commercial finance and venture capital in Waterloo, Ontario, with specialities in tech firms, real estate and lean manufacturing.
